Water Wells

Water scarcity is both a natural and a human-made phenomenon. There is enough freshwater on the planet for 7 billion people but it is distributed unevenly and too much of it is wasted, polluted, and not managed in a sustainable manner. (www.un.org/waterforlifedecade/scarcity.shtml )

Declining water quality has become a global issue of concern as human populations grow. Clean drinking water has become scarce and will become even scarcer with the onset of climate change. And the poor continue to suffer due to pollution, water shortages and lack of adequate sanitation. (Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary General)

Freshwater is a common denominator for many of today's most pressing challenges - health, hygiene, food, education.

Many schools and communities in developing countries do not have access to fresh water. WESAP wants to help by providing access to clean water to improve sanitation, reduce illness and break the cycle of poverty.
